On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 9:06pm, Palm Desert Sheriff Station deputies responded to College of the Desert, located at 43500 Monterey Avenue in the city of Palm Desert. The call for service was regarding a student in possession of marijuana on campus. The investigation revealed that Juan Romero Velazquez, 18 years old of Mecca, was in possession of several pounds of marijuana stored in individual jars. Velazquez also had a scale, baggies, marijuana e-cigarettes, marijuana edibles and other paraphernalia. Velazquez was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and booked into the jail in Indio.
