On Friday, January 10, 2020, at about 2 pm, deputies from the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force (Perris/Lake Elsinore) were patrolling in the Homeland area. They noticed a male and female acting suspiciously near a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 74 and Sultanas Road. Upon contacting the individuals, deputies learned the female was on formal probation in Riverside county for narcotics sales. A subsequent search revealed both the male and female in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
While deputies were detaining the male and female, a citizen approached the deputies and informed them that the subjects had broken into his vacant residence, which was for sale. The homeowner and his real estate agent found the male and female staying inside the house when they arrived to check the property a short time earlier. Deputies investigated and found the two had forced their way into the house and caused additional damage inside. The male was found to be in possession of items that were inside the residence.
Deputies arrested Brandon Garcia, age 24, and Patricia Pacheco, age 21. Both Garcia and Pacheco are currently homeless. They were charged with burglary, forcible entry of a building, vandalism, and possession of a controlled substance. In addition, Pacheco was charged with violating her probation. Garcia and Pacheco were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.
