On Thursday, November 21, 2019, Sheriff Deputies assigned to service the City of Coachella, responded to a reported shooting in the area of 2nd Street and Vine in the city of Coachella. Reports indicated two groups of people were shooting at each other. When deputies arrived on scene a perimeter was established and some of the  involved parties were detained. Witnesses also described an older model black Toyota sedan fleeing the area with additional suspects inside. Deputies did a door to door search of the area and no injured parties were located.

During the investigation, deputies and investigators obtained evidence leading to the arrest of two juvenile males, one 15 years old of Coachella and one 16 years old of Coachella, for negligent discharge of a firearm. Investigators are still searching for the subjects who fled the area in the older model Toyota. This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information should contact Investigator Butvidas at (760)863-8946.
