Update:
Since the day of the homicide, investigators have been working diligently to identify the suspects involved in this murder. Earlier this year, investigators were able to identify one of the suspects as an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Coachella. However, at the time of the murder, he was a juvenile; therefore, his name will not be released. This suspect was arrested in February of 2023 and has been in custody since then.
As the investigation continued, homicide investigators, with the assistance of the Region 1-Gang Task Force, identified the second suspect as a 16-year-old Hispanic male juvenile out of the Coachella area. On October 24, 2023, the Gang Task Force located the juvenile suspect near the intersection of Harrison Street and 55th Avenue in Coachella and took him into custody without incident. He was taken to Juvenile Hall and booked on murder charges.

Details:
On July 20, 2022, deputies from the Thermal Station responded to the 86000 block of Calle Geranio in Coachella to investigate a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies arrived, they found a 16-year old male and a 17-year old female, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies attempted life saving measures but the victims succumbed to their injuries. The suspects had fled the area prior to deputies arrival and are currently outstanding. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit and Thermal Station responded to assume the investigation.
