On Sunday, October 01, 2023, at 4:23 a.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Thermal Station deputies responded to the negligent discharge of a firearm in the 50000 block of Goya Drive, in the city of Coachella. Deputies arrived and learned the suspect fled in a gray sport utility vehicle. The Coachella Community Action Team assumed the investigation, and identified the suspect as Jose Luis Acevedo Prado, 33-year-oldn resident of Palm Desert.
On October 19, 2023, deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team, with the assistance of Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team, and La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, served a search warrant at a residence in the 73000 block of Country Club Drive, located within the city of Palm Desert. During a search of the residence, deputies located two firearms, approximately 1400 Fentanyl pills, 1.5 pounds of processed marijuana, a scale and packaging consistent with narcotics sales, and approximately $1550.00. The occupants of the residence were identified as Jose Luis Acevedo Prado and Lydia Lizzette Valencia a 30-year-old resident of Palm Desert. Acevedo Prado and Valencia were taken into custody without incident.
Acevedo Prado was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for the negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of narcotics for sales, and child endangerment. Valencia was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for possession of marijuana for sales, possession of narcotics for sales, and child endangerment.
