Details: 

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 5:22 PM, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of an adult male brandishing a weapon in the 3000 block of Ash Street, Lake Elsinore. The deputy arrived on scene and located the suspect outside of the residence.  A physical altercation occurred between the suspect and the deputy resulting in a Deputy Involved Shooting. 

The suspect was struck by the deputy’s gunfire and was immediately treated at the scene by additional deputies for his injuries.  Fire and medical personnel were summoned, and life-saving measures were performed until the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.The suspect’s name will not be released at this time pending the ongoing investigation and notification of next of kin.

There were no injuries to members of the public, or deputies. There are no outstanding suspects and no threat to public safety.  

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigations Detail responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per Department policy. The involved deputy’s name will not be released at this time.  The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Central Homicide Investigator Navarette at (951) 955-2777 or Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Investigator Carranza at (951) 245-3300.
