File # MV231520337
On June 1, 2023, about 10:45 pm, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno Valley Station, were dispatched to a major injury traffic collision near the 14000 block of Elsworth Street. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and located a black Toyota sedan with major collision damage and a blue Semi-tractor trailer with minor damage. The driver and sole occupant of the black Toyota sustained major injuries and succumbed to the injuries at the scene. The driver of the blue Semi-tractor trailer was not injured and remained at the scene. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the black Toyota was traveling northbound on Elsworth Street when it collided into the rear of the Semi-tractor trailer.
The identity of the drivers will not be released pending the investigation’s full completion. It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of Elsworth Street, between Cactus Avenue and New Hope Drive, to process the scene and collect evidence.
