Moreno Valley, Calif.—The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno Valley Station, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) / Driver’s License checkpoint on Friday, April 14, 2023. The checkpoint was on Alessandro Boulevard, east of the intersection with Day Street, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. The checkpoint yielded the following results:
- 1,920 vehicles screened
- 10 Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs) conducted
- 4 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
- 1 arrested for driving under the influence of drugs
- 10 arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license
- 35 citations issued for driving without a driver’s license
- 6 citations issued for driving with an expired license
- 15 vehicles were stored or impounded
- 1 arrested for failing to yield at a DUI checkpoint
- 1 arrested for possession of a stolen motorcycle
- 2 arrested for miscellaneous misdemeanor offenses
- 2 citations issued for various traffic violations
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Holding DUI Checkpoint April 14, 2023
Moreno Valley, Calif. – On April 14, 2023, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Moreno Valley Station, will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM at an undisclosed location.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy Christopher Loucks said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
