File # B230790003
On Monday, March 20, at 8:22 AM, Cabazon Station deputies responded to the windmill farm located south of the I-10 Freeway and east of Elm Street in the unincorporated area of Cabazon. Deputies learned the victim tracked their stolen wire to the 9200 block of Allegra in Desert Hot Springs. The copper wire was stolen from the windmills in the area sometime over the past two days. Deputies arrived at the address provided in Desert Hot Springs and observed multiple pieces of cut wire in front of the residence. Deputies contacted Nicholas Dumas, a 38-year-old male from Desert Hot Springs, at the residence. During the investigation, deputies learned Dumas received the wire from an individual and was paid to expose the copper wire for recycling. The victim identified and recovered approximately 900 feet of their stolen cable. Dumas was later booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for possession of the stolen property.
This investigation is ongoing, and if anyone has information regarding the theft of copper wire from this area, they are encouraged to contact Deputy Paumier of the Cabazon Station at (951) 922–7100.
