On March 4, 2023, at about 6:06pm, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to Calliandra St., east of Alamo Dr. reference a traffic collision. The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team responded to the location of the collision and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the Nissan was traveling eastbound on Calliandra St. at an unknown speed when it collided with the pedestrian. The driver, identified as Cameron Curtis, 31 of Palm Desert, was detained at the scene and later booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for homicide.
