On Friday, November 18, 2022, about 1:55 PM, deputies from the Cabazon station located wanted fugitive, Nathan Collins, a 26-year-old resident of Cabazon, in the 51800 block of Maxine Avenue in Cabazon. Deputies recognized Collins as having a felony warrant issued for his arrest, as well as being wanted in connection to an attempted murder that occurred in October 2022. When deputies attempted to contact Collins, who is on Riverside County Probation for a separate case involving an assault with a deadly weapon, he fled on foot and attempted to discard a concealed dagger he had on his person. With the assistance of additional patrol personnel, members of the Cabazon Station Investigations Bureau, Gang Task Force Region 2, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Aviation Unit, a perimeter was established and Collins was located within the perimeter. Collins was taken into custody without further incident and the dagger Collins attempted to discard was recovered and collected. Collins was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for numerous felony charges.
