Details:
On December 18, 2021, at 11:09 P.M., deputies assigned to the contract city of Coachella responded to the 85-000 block of Avenue 52, regarding a stabbing. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and advised he was stabbed by an unknown Hispanic male adult. On December 22, 2021, the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT) conducted follow up investigation to the incident. The suspect was identified as Hernan Bustamante Meza, a 30-year-old resident of Coachella. CCAT, with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team and the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET), served a search warrant at a residence located in the 85-200 block of Cairo Street in the city of Coachella. The knife used in the incident was located along with a loaded .38 caliber handgun. Bustamante was arrested taken into custody at the residence without incident. Bustamante was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
