On Thursday, December 9, 2021, Perris Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to two separate armed robbery calls occurring in the 2000 block of Perris Blvd and 400 block of E. 4th Street, in the city of Perris. The armed robberies occurred within 10 minutes of each other. Deputies arrived on-scene and learned the same suspect entered the businesses, brandished a firearm, and demanded liquid codeine before fleeing the locations. The Perris Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation. During their investigation, the city of Moreno Valley had two similar armed robberies involving the same suspect, which occurred at 1351 hours in the 12000 block of Frederick Street and 1440 hours in the 23000 block of Ironwood Avenue. The video surveillance revealed the same suspect committed all four robberies and brandished a silver handgun before fleeing in a white Toyota Camry.
The Perris Station’s RBST and Moreno Valley Station’s RBST began coordinating investigation efforts and located a license plate of the suspect vehicle, which was stolen out of Phoenix, Arizona. They also were able to identify the suspect as a 17 year old male juvenile. About 5:00 PM, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Investigation’s Bureau-Major Crime Unit assisted in locating the suspect vehicle in Perris and were able to detain the suspect and two other occupants, a 15 year old female juvenile and Deshawn Wright, a 24-year-old resident of San Bernardino. The original suspect was later booked into the Southwest Juvenile Hall for numerous felony robbery charges. The female juvenile was discovered to have a no bail warrant and was booked into the Southwest Juvenile Hall. Deshawn Wright was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center (CBDC) for a felony warrant out of San Bernardino. This investigation is on-going.
Anyone with additional information is urged to call Deputy Gil at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.
