On Friday, October 22nd, 2021, deputies with the Hemet Mountain station were dispatched to Mitchell Road and Jack Lane, regarding a vehicle that was previously taken during a carjacking being located, along with a possible suspect. Deputies arrived on-scene and contacted the victim who advised the exact location of his vehicle. As deputies approached the vehicle, they heard shots being fired in their vicinity. They immediately contacted the victim who stated he saw and confronted the suspect in the area while they were conducting their investigation. The suspect produced a firearm and fired it. The suspect fled the area immediately after the shooting. Several more units arrived on-scene and conducted an extensive check of the surrounding area for the subject, who was not located.
