The deceased inmate has been identified as 40 year old, Riverside resident, Randy Rush.
On Saturday, August 21, 2021, approximately 1:05 am, deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Robert Presley Detention Center, conducted a routine security check of a housing unit. During the security check, jail staff discovered an unresponsive male inmate. Custody staff along with medical staff immediately responded to the cell and began administering life-saving measures. Fire personnel and American Medical Response (AMR) responded and subsequently after further life-saving measures, the inmate was pronounced deceased on scene.
Riverside Sheriff’s Department investigators responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of death will later be determined by the Coroner’s Bureau. The identification of the inmate will not be released at this time pending notification to the family. There are no signs of foul play and due to the ongoing status of the investigation, no further information is available at this time.
