Details:

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, about 6:37 P.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, were dispatched to the report of a major injury collision near the intersection of Armstrong Road and Gail Drive, in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies arrived on-scene and found two vehicles involved, a white 2015 Toyota Corolla and a UPS truck. Deputies located the driver of the Corolla who suffered severe, life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased. The driver of the UPS truck was also transported to a local area hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the collision.

The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates the UPS driver was turning left onto Armstrong Road, from Gail Drive, when he was struck by the Corolla driving southbound on Armstrong Road, at a high rate of speed. It appears the Corolla struck the UPS truck (T-bone) without braking, as no evidence of pre-collision skids were present. Armstrong Road and Gail Drive was closed for the duration of the investigation.

The identities of the involved parties, including the deceased, will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to the next of kin. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Petersen at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
