Details:
On April 16, 2021, around 6:58 P.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Lake Elsinore Station, responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on Canyon Lake Dr. and Sloop Dr. in Canyon Lake. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a single vehicle that had left the roadway and collided with several parked vehicles and residences. Cal Fire arrived and began working to extricate the trapped individual. Cal Fire was able to remove the individual who was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed the injured driver was traveling east on Canyon Lake Dr. and Sloop Dr. at a high rate of speed. The driver suffered an apparent medical emergency, and his vehicle left the roadway, colliding with the parked vehicles and residences. The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision at this time.
On April 17, 2021, approximately 2:00 A.M, Inland Valley Hospital advised the driver had succumbed to his injuries.
