Details:
On Friday, March 26, 2021, about 7:07 A.M., San Jacinto Sheriff Station initiated a pursuit of a suspected under the influence driver. The driver, later identified as Jeremey Harpe (34-year-old Reno Nevada resident), fled from law enforcement and drove in a reckless manner, including running stop signs and driving into on-coming traffic. The pursuing units discontinued the pursuit when the Sheriff’s helicopter was in place to follow the suspect, but had to reinitiate when a low cloud cover inhibited the helicopter. The pursuit continued onto Interstate State 10 from Beaumont. Harpe, exited Interstate 10 at several exits and got back on to Interstate 10 to drive the opposite direction. At one point, Harpe began driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10, before making a U-turn to drive westbound in the correct lanes. Harpe eventually exited the interstate in Cherry Valley and pulled over at Cherry Avenue and Grand Avenue Harpe was immediately taken into custody.
Harpe was transported and booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for felony evading and driving under the influence.
The investigation is currently on-going. Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Deputy Cutis Cox at the San Jacinto Sheriff Station by calling (951) 766-2400.
