On March 24, 2021, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team coordinated a concentrated neighborhood clean-up in the area of Adrienne Avenue, Allies Place, Pride Street, Courage Street, including the alleyways in between, in the city of Moreno Valley. This operation was conducted with the assistance of the city of Moreno Valley Code & Neighborhood Services Division and Moreno Valley Public Works.
The purpose of this operation was to give the residents of this primarily low-income housing area, a means of disposing of bulk junk items such as mattresses, refrigerators, old furniture items, etc. These types of items are often discarded in alleyways, streets, sidewalks, alongside buildings, or other public access areas. This not only creates a fire hazard for the multi-unit housing buildings in the area, it also creates nuisance for the public and affects the quality of life for the residents of the community. The operation also focused on removing abandoned vehicles as they also present a traffic hazard for the residents.
Approximately one week prior to the operation, notices to the residents in the area were provided by the city of Moreno Valley. This allowed the community an opportunity to participate in the planned event. The operation proved to be successful as three, 40-yard Waste Management dumpsters were filled with various items and one vehicle was towed.
As a reminder, “Community Policing” involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members. Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 for emergencies.
