On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 9:50 PM, Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Officers from Region 2 conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of North Hargrave Street in the City of Banning. The vehicle was occupied by two male juveniles who will not be identified, and an adult male identified as Alex Signavong, an eighteen-year-old resident from the City of Banning. One of the juveniles who was driving the vehicle was unlicensed. Gang Task Force Officer had all the occupants step out of the vehicle.
A search of Signavong was conducted and he was in possession of a concealed handgun with an extended magazine. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and twenty-eight grams of honey oil was located. Additionally, Gang Task Force Officers located a box that contained two hundred and seventy tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vape pens. Signavong was placed under arrest and the two male juveniles were released from the scene to their parents.
Signavong was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for the following Charges:
- Possession of Canceled Firearm in Vehicle
- Possession of Cannabis for Sells
- Child Endangerment
The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force is one of six teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the Banning Police Department, Beaumont Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
