Details:
On Thursday, February 4, 2021, at approximately 7:49 A.M, deputies assigned to the San Jacinto Sheriff Station initiated a vehicle pursuit on a suspected impaired driver. The driver, later identified as Taniah Cardenas (28 year-old San Jacinto resident) fled from law enforcement and drove in a reckless manner, including running stop signs and driving into on-coming traffic. Cardenas stopped the vehicle in the area of Miramar Avenue and Camino Los Banos, in the City of San Jacinto. Cardenas and three other occupants of the vehicle immediately ran away from the vehicle. Cardenas was apprehended within a few seconds. A passenger, identified as Charlene Ozuna (39 year-old San Jacinto resident), was also apprehended a short distance from the vehicle. The two other occupants were able to flee the area before law enforcement could set up a perimeter.
It was discovered the vehicle, which had no license plates on it, was a reported stolen vehicle. Narcotics were also found inside the vehicle.
Cardenas was later transported to and booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of narcotics for sale and driving under the influence. Ozuna was also transported to and booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for resisting arrest.
