On November 20, 2020, about 9:54 am, Riverside Sheriff’s units responded to the area of Newton St. and Canal St. regarding an officer involved shooting incident.
Units from the “Safe Street Task Force,” consisting of officers/agents from the El Monte Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), served a search warrant at a residence near the 5700 block of Newton Street, in the city of Jurupa Valley. As part of an ongoing firearms trafficking investigation.
During the service of the search warrant, officers contacted an adult male who was in possession of a firearm in front of the location. At that time an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect attempted to flee the area; however, he was detained and arrested before doing so. At the conclusion of the search warrant, multiple suspects were arrested without incident. No one was injured as a result of this incident and there is no threat to the public.
Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department Force Investigations Detail (FID) responded and assumed the investigation.
