On Friday, November 20, 2020, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to a shooting at a bar located in the 31000 Block of Railroad Canyon Road, Canyon Lake. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the deputies arrival. The investigation identified the suspect as 39-year-old, Cody Hill from Wildomar. Deputies responded to Hill’s residence in the 34000 Block of Jennifer Drive, Wildomar. Hill was located and was arrested without incident. The Lake Elsinore Investigations Bureau and the Problem Oriented Policing Team assisted in this investigation by serving a search warrant at Hill’s residence, in an effort to locate the firearm used in this incident. At the residence, deputies located five shotguns, four handguns, a California non-compliant rifle, eleven additional rifles and over 2500 live rounds of miscellaneous ammunition. During the search warrant service, deputies detained 38-year-old Paola Jimenez who resided at the residence.
Hill was arrested for attempted murder and a bail enhancement was approved for $1,000,000.00. Paola was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Both subjects were booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center.
