On Saturday, October 17, 2020, approximately 8:50 AM, Lake Elsinore Station deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of Solstice Court reference a residential burglary that had just occurred. When deputies arrived on scene, they were able to obtain a description of the suspect as well as the vehicle he was driving. As additional deputies were responding to the scene, they located the suspect vehicle parked at McVickers Canyon Park. Deputies attempted to make contact with the driver of the vehicle, at which time the driver reversed out of a parking stall and drove toward the deputies. A deputy involved shooting occurred. 

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and moments later lost control which resulted in a single vehicle collision. The suspect exited the vehicle and hid in the surrounding area. A perimeter was established, and a search of the area began. During the search, they located the suspect and he ran away from the deputies. A canine was deployed and assisted with the apprehension of the suspect. The suspect was identified as Ryan Caceres, a 27-year-old male from Riverside. Caceres was not struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment of minor injuries. Caceres will be booked into a local jail facility for residential burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle and other felony charges.

The deputies involved will be placed on administrative leave per Department policy. The involved deputies’ names will not be released at this time.

Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office along with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Force Investigations Detail responded and assumed the investigation. This is an active and on-going investigation.
