Details:
On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Investigations Bureau, with the assistance of the Thermal Sheriff’s Station personnel, and the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force, served a marijuana cultivation related search warrant in the unincorporated area of Mecca. During the service, 7,887 marijuana plants were eradicated for a total weight of approximately 3.5 tons.
The goal of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is to keep all our citizens safe while also improving the quality of life for those residing within the community. Marijuana cultivation negatively impacts the environment in many ways including diminishing and poisoning the water table and pesticides adversely affecting the health of neighboring residents.
