In April of 2020, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department was alerted of possible fraudulent activity at the Temescal Valley 9Round gym franchise by one of the gym managers, Rick Calzada, age 45, a resident from Lake Elsinore. During the investigation, Investigator Alkire conducted multiple interviews and discovered approximately $40,000 in membership related fees had been embezzled by Rick Calzada from January of 2019 to April of 2020.
On September 23, 2020, investigators from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant for a residence in the 1300 block of Park Way, in the city of Lake Elsinore. During the search warrant service numerous items related to the embezzlement and theft were located. Rick Calzada was arrested for embezzlement and other theft related charges. Rick Calzada was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
