During the end of July and the beginning of August 2020, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Patrol division and Problem Oriented Policing Team conducted an investigation of a burglary at Extra Space Storage, which is located within the city of Lake Elsinore, County of Riverside.
On July 24, 2020, patrol deputies responded to Extra Space Storage located in the 18000 block of Collier Ave, regarding the burglary. During the course of investigation, it was determined numerous items were stolen from the victim’s storage locker in the D series of the building. The investigation also led to the suspect being identified as Luis Rincon who also had a storage locker in the D series.
On July 30, 2020 at the direction of Sheriff Chad Bianco, deputies served a search warrant at Extra Space Storage. The search warrant was served at Luis Rincon’s storage locker in the D series. Luis Rincon was not at his storage locker and not taken into custody at the time. Deputies located the victim’s stolen items inside Luis Rincon‘s locker and recovered them. The stolen/recovered items were valued at over 3,000.00 dollars. Also located inside the storage locker were different types of ammunition, which Louis Rincon (previously convicted felon) is prohibited from possessing. Further follow up had to be conducted in attempt to locate Luis Rincon.
Lake Elsinore Station Problem Oriented Policing Team served two additional search warrants between July 30, 2020 and August 03, 2020, in the city of Lake Elsinore. On August 04,2020, Luis Rincon (32 years old), was located and arrested in the city of Lake Elsinore, County of Riverside. Luis Rincon was transported to Cois Byrd Detention Center and booked into custody on the charge of Burglary, Conspiracy and Felon in possession of ammunition.
