On Saturday, July 11, 2020, about 6:46 a.m., deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 74 and Riverside St., in the city of Lake Elsinore, regarding a major injury traffic collision.

Upon arrival deputies located a female inside of her vehicle suffering from major injuries. The female was treated by medical personnel at the scene and pronounced deceased. The driver of the second vehicle, a 62-year-old male from Arkansas, was not injured in the collision.

The preliminary investigation indicates the deceased was driving a 2005 Honda Accord north bound on Riverside St., making a left-hand turn to west bound State Highway 74 when the second driver, traveling east on State Highway 74, collided with the driver’s side of the deceased’s vehicle. The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office once positive identification can be established, and next of kin can be notified. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Deputy Willow of the Lake Elsinore Sheriffs Station at (951) 245-3300.
