Palm Desert Station Burglary Suppression Unit (BSU), conducted further investigation regarding an armed robbery and vehicle theft investigation that occurred on April 12,2020, in the 4000 block of Harris Avenue, Palm Desert. BSU identified Eddie Garcia, 43 of Desert Hot Springs, as the suspect. On July 09, 2020, BSU members with the assistance of the Palm Desert Station Special Enforcement Team (SET), and members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (GTF) located and arrested Garcia in the 3200 block of E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs. With the assistance of GTF, a probation compliance check was completed at Garcia’s residence, where numerous items belonging to the victim were located. In addition to the located stolen property, an unregistered Ruger LCP handgun and ammunition were located. At the conclusion of the investigation, two other accomplices were identified and charges will be filed. Garcia was transported to the Riverside County Jail in Indio for the armed robbery, felon/gang member in possession of a firearm/ammunition, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and probation violation.
