On Saturday, May 16, 2020, about 5:15 P.M., deputies from the Lake Elsinore and Perris Sheriff’s Stations responded to the 24000 Block of State Highway 74, in the community of Good Hope, reference a shooting. While deputies were responding, it was reported the vehicles involved left the area towards the city of Perris (eastbound) on State Highway 74. Riverside County Sheriff’s Air Support (Star-9) was in the area and located the two vehicles. Deputies were directed to Paul Court and 7th Street, in the city of Perris, where they contacted the occupants of the vehicles. They located a Hispanic Male Adult (victim) with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The initial phase of this investigation discovered the suspects arrived at the location in a newer white four door BMW to purchase a vehicle. During the transaction, the suspects attempted to rob the victims. A victim was shot in the abdomen as he and the other victims fought back in self-defense.
