Details:

During the month of April, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Problem Oriented Policing Team received complaints regarding a possible illegal marijuana grow within the city of Lake Elsinore. The Problem Oriented Policing Team assumed the investigation. On April 29, 2020, deputies served a search warrant on Via Del Macci Court in the Tuscany Hills community of Lake Elsinore. Several subjects were located within the residence and were in the process of dismantling the illegal marijuana grow. The entire residence was transformed into a marijuana cultivation site.

The electrical system was illegally altered causing a severe fire hazard. Lake Elsinore Code Enforcement/ Building and Safety responded and deemed the house uninhabitable. Southern California Edison Company also responded and turned the power off due to illegal wiring throughout the residence.

A 46 year old, Jinwen Yang, from Rancho Cucamonga was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for illegal marijuana cultivation. This is an ongoing investigation, anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Deputy Talbott at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station (951)245-3300.

As a reminder, "Community Policing" involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members. Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency.
