Details:
On March 26, 2020, Gang Task Force (GTF) detectives learned about an assault with a deadly weapon (ADW) that occurred on March 22, 2020 in the 1600 block of W. Florida Ave., in the city of Hemet. The suspect, later identified as Jontai McNair, used a firearm against the victim. McNair is a member of a Moreno Valley based gang and linked to other shooting incidents in the San Jacinto Valley. Those gang related incidents are still being investigated.
On March 27, 2020, Jontai McNair was arrested in the city of Moreno Valley with the assistance of the Moreno Valley PD- Special Enforcement Team (SET.) A probation search was conducted on McNair. Ammunition and gang indicia were found.
