Firearms Tactical Rifle Instructor Course

Full Description

This course is designed to train participants to be Patrol Rifle Instructors (Train the Trainer). It will provide the skills and knowledge to teach basic patrol rifle training.  Participants will be able to identify, define, and instruct officers on long rifle characteristics. Instruction will include firearm safety, liability, and long rifle knowledge.

Students will be required to pass a 50-round rifle qualification course.  The qualification shoot shall consist of a static line shoot firing at stationary targets from 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 yards. This course is shot with IRON Sights only.  A minimum score of 90% of all rounds must be in the bottle and 100% of all rounds must be on the target.  This shoot is a requirement by Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)  Participants who fail to qualify will not be allowed to continue with the course.


Prerequisite:
Must be currently employed by a law enforcement agency as a sworn peace officer, proficient with the AR-15 assault rifle (no civilian models). Must have attended an advanced carbine rifle class or have attended a basic Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) academy.  Must have completed a POST certified Firearms Instructor Course Rangemaster, or equivalency.
