Dispatch - Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault
Overview: This eight-hour class will empower call takers and dispatchers with the knowledge of the cycle of violence, signs and symptoms of domestic violence and sexual assault, phases of domestic violence, different environmental causes for violence and the understanding why victims stay in violent relationships. Students will learn call-taking and dispatcher skills to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, California Penal Code sections and related laws along with several resources to assist victims.
Prerequisite: Must be currently employed by a law enforcement or public safety agency and have completed a Basic Public Safety Dispatcher course (ADJ-D1A) or equivalent.
