Chief Deputy Director Will Taylor has been a member of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department since 1997.  All of his County and Government experiences have been with the Sheriff’s Department. Prior to becoming a member of the Department, Chief Deputy Director Will Taylor was a Senior Auditor with the regional CPA firm of Vavrinek, Trine, Day and Co., LLP for three years. While there he traveled throughout California conducting audits of School Districts, Community Colleges, Non-Profits, and Financial Institutions.

Chief Deputy Director Taylor began his tenure with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1997 as the first Accountant for the Sheriff’s Court Services Division. While there he oversaw a budget of fifteen million dollars and performed an internal audit of the Trial Court Funding process, increasing the Department’s revenue by ten million dollars.

A year and a half later he was promoted to Administrative Supervisor over the Department’s Central Accounting and Finance Bureau responsible for the operations of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and internal audits.

In 2002 Chief Deputy Director Taylor was promoted to Principal Accountant and assigned the task of implementing the County’s new PeopleSoft Financials and Human Resources System within the Sheriff’s Department.

Three years later he was promoted to the position of Administrative Manager III assuming command of the Accounting and Finance bureau and served in this capacity until 2007 when he was promoted to Deputy Director of Administration overseeing the Accounting and Finance Bureau as well as the Contracts, Grants and Purchasing Units. Six months later he was promoted to Chief Deputy Director and was responsible for the financial operations of the Sheriff’s Department and the preparation of the Department’s $700 million annual budget.

Chief Deputy Director Taylor comes from a military family who spent the majority of their lives outside of the United States. After a brief stint at March Air Force Base in the early eighties, his family was assigned to Rhein Main Air Force Base in Germany for four years and later transferred to Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. Chief Deputy Director Taylor returned to Riverside in 1990 to attend California Baptist University. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in accounting and information systems. 

He is married to his wife LaTonya and they have one child.
