Basic Academy training, the starting point for a career in law enforcement, is conducted by specialized course instructors. Courses offered at Clark Training Center satisfy the minimum requirements established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
The Corrections Basic Academy is a 373-hour course that exceeds the minimum training requirements of section 179 of the California Code of regulations and meets the 832 Penal Code training requirements of 831.5 Penal Code.
The modular version of Basic Academy is designed to allow working adults an opportunity to train as a peace officer during evenings and alternating weekends. It is also the course series for those interested in becoming reserve deputy officers.
