Reserve Deputy Sheriff
The Reserve Deputy Sheriff Program is a volunteer organization of individuals who provide the Department with additional law enforcement resources to better serve the citizens of Riverside County. A Reserve Deputy Sheriff has peace officer powers while on duty, in accordance with the laws of the State of California. The Reserve Program provides the opportunity for personal growth and education. Reserve Deputy Sheriff assignments may include field operations, correctional operations, various special programs, events and other assignments at the direction of the Sheriff. Reserve duty time is served on a flexible schedule to meet individual needs.
In order to be considered for a Reserve Deputies (all levels) position, you must have successfully completed at least one of the following course regimens:
- P.O.S.T. Basic Modular Course Level III, II, and I, or
- P.O.S.T. Basic Academy, or
- P.O.S.T. Extended Academy

Once accepted and assigned to a station, Reserve Deputies must also complete the Department's Field Training Program provided by the station.
