On July 28, 2019, at 1:51 AM, The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team observed two male subjects walking on Verbena Drive in La Quinta. The Team then saw a parked U-Haul truck with both doors open and suspected the subjects had burglarized the U-Haul. The subjects entered a silver Chevrolet Trek and fled the area. The vehicle was located backed into a driveway in the 79600 block of Morning Glory Court. The driver, and now solo occupant was identified as Narciso Vargas, 39-years-old of Thermal. The other subject was not located. While speaking with Vargas reference the suspected burglary, he became combative and a struggle ensued. Vargas was taken into custody, and it was determined he was under the influence of alcohol. Numerous construction tools were located inside Vargas’ vehicle. Vargas claimed he did not know who the tools belonged to, but believed they were stolen. The tools inside the Chevy Trek were collected for safe keeping. Vargas was booked into the county jail in Indio.
The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Klemme at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station by calling (760)-863-8990.
