On July 17, 2019, at 3:08 PM, La Quinta deputies responded to the 60800 block Desert Rose Drive, regarding a past grand theft of jewelry. During the investigation additional victims who reside in the city of La Quinta, were identified. Some of the stolen jewelry was located at local pawns shops. It was determined, MaricelaAlvarez-Limon , 42-years-old of Indio, pawned the jewelry and committed the thefts. On July 19, 2019, a search warrant was authored for her residence in the city of Indio. The search warrant was served by the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team. During the search warrant, Alvarez-Limon was located and arrested for grand theft. Ruben Mercado Alvarez, 22-years-old of Indio, was also arrested during the search warrant for possession of methamphetamine. They were booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio.
