The holiday season is a time when family and friends come together to celebrate, but also a time when people can make poor choices that put themselves and or others at risk on the road. The La Quinta Police Department is committed to getting impaired drivers off the roads this New Year’s Eve.
The La Quinta Police Department would like to remind drivers that impaired driving doesn’t just involve alcohol. Marijuana, prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications can also cause impairment, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs.
The La Quinta Police Department is also committed to increase patrol levels and provide a high visibility of police officer presence throughout the city. The increased patrols are part of the Holiday Theft Suppression Program. These patrols will include patrol cars, police motorcycles, and the use of police bicycles.
We encourage community members to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 836-3215, or by calling 911 if there is an emergency.
