The holiday season is a time when family and friends come together to celebrate, but also a time when people can make poor choices that put themselves and or others at risk on the road. The La Quinta Police Department is committed to getting impaired drivers off the roads during this holiday season.
The La Quinta Police Department would like to remind drivers that impaired driving doesn’t just involve alcohol. Marijuana, prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications can also cause impairment, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs.
The La Quinta Police Department is also committed to increase patrol levels and provide a high visibility of police officer presence in the business district, along the Hwy 111 corridor. The increased patrols are part of the Holiday Theft Suppression Program. These patrols will include patrol cars and the use of police bicycles.
As the holidays are upon us, we ask that you to lock your vehicles and secure your valuables out of sight. We encourage community members to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 836-3215, or by calling 911 if there is an emergency.
