On Sunday, November 18, 2018, two suspects approached a male victim that was walking in the 84000 block of Ave 49. The two males brandished weapons at the victim and demanded his property, which he gave to them. The two males then fled the scene in a white vehicle. The vehicle was spotted a short time later by patrol deputies and a vehicle stop was attempted. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was abandoned on Vine St. just north of 3rd St in Coachella by numerous subjects who fled on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend one suspect who was armed with a firearm. A second firearm was recovered in the area. An extensive search of the area was conducted a second suspect was apprehended.

The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile and 18 year-old, Ruben Ramirez Jr., both residents of Coachella. The juvenile male was booked at the Juvenile Hall Facility in Indio and Ramirez was booked at the Indio Jail.
