Elias Cruz

On January 20th, 2018, at 2:10 PM, officers from the La Quinta Police Department responded to a residential, silent burglary alarm in the 53000 block of Avenida Montezuma. As the officer was checking the residence a burglary suspect ran from a rear door of the location, over an adjoining wall, and into the neighborhood. Additional officers responded to the location along with a Sheriff’s K9, and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol.

A search was conducted and the suspect was ultimately located hiding in the back yard of a residence in the 53000 block of Avenida Cortez. The suspect refused to exit the location where he was hiding and was ultimately apprehended by the use of a Sheriff’s K9. The suspect was identified as Elias Cruz, 21 years old of Palm Desert. It was also determined that Cruz was in possession of a stolen vehicle parked near the location of the burglary. Cruz was later booked into the county Jail in Indio. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Officer Fransik of the La Quinta Police Department at 760-863-8990.
