On Thursday, January 18th, 2018, at about 12:45 PM, Officers from the La Quinta Police Department and paramedics responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation determined a Cadillac sedan made a westbound turn onto Avenue 47 from Adams and collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was immediately transported to a local area hospital; however, succumbed to injuries a short time thereafter. Avenue 47, west of Adams Street was closed for several hours while the collision was being investigated. The identity of the pedestrian will be withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Alcohol or drugs do not to appear to have been a factor in the collision. This investigation is ongoing and the La Quinta Police Department Traffic Team is asking anyone with any information concerning this collision to contact Sergeant Smith of the La Quinta Police Department at 760-863-8990.
