On Friday, December 15, 2017, at about 11:30 am, officers from the La Quinta Police Department responded to the 78000 block of Via Sonata in the City of La Quinta in reference to a recent residential burglary. The La Quinta officers responded quickly and saw two male suspect’s running from in the back yard of the residence. The suspect’s ran in separate directions and with assistance from the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team who were on bicycles, chased and captured one of the suspects. After officers coordinated an extensive house to house search, the other suspect was found hiding and was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

A thorough investigation followed and numerous items stolen from the residence were recovered including a stolen vehicle, taken from the residence by suspects. 

The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile Indio resident and 22-year-old Coachella resident Christian F. Espinoza. The juvenile male who was found to have an active no bail warrant for shooting a firearm at an inhabited dwelling was booked at the Juvenile Hall Facility in Indio and Espinoza was booked into the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indiofor burglary, possession of stolen property and automobile theft.
