On Sunday, 01-18-10, at 2330 hours, Temecula police were dispatched to Calle Girasol, west of Walcott in reference to a traffic collision investigation involving a vehicle that had driven off the roadway into a canal. The investigation revealed that Jolene Mangilinan (06-26-77) was driving with her four children west on Calle Girasol when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a canal causing major damage to the vehicle. Girasol was under the influence of alcohol and was transported along with her children to an area hospital for treatment. All four of the children sustained serious injuries.
Child Protective Services responded to take custody of the children and Mangilinan was later booked into Southwest Detention Center for felony violation of Driving Under the Influence and Child Endangerment.
