Matthew Eugene Dupas

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, about 12:35 p.m., deputies from the Norco Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a business located in the 1400 block of Hamner Avenue, in the City of Norco, in reference to a reported fraud. The investigation revealed an adult male suspect arrived at the business and used a stolen credit card to purchase items from the business. The suspect was captured on store video surveillance.

The case was immediately  turned over to the Norco Special Enforcement Team (SET) deputies for follow-up investigation. That same day, about 10:15 p.m., the suspect returned to the store. The SET deputies were already at the location and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Matthew Eugene Dupas, age 39, a Riverside resident.

During the investigation, Dupas was found to be in possession of stolen checks, credit cards, evidence related to identify theft, and drugs. Dupas was arrested for theft, forgery, possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamine. He was booked in to the Robert Presley Detention Center, in the City of Riverside for the listed charges. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
