On 01/29/10, R.O.V.E. deputies joined forces with Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station’s personnel in a search and rescue attempt within the Santa Ana River. This concentrated effort was in response to a reported critical missing person believed to have been possibly in or near the riverbed. The primary goal was to reduce illegal off-roading, excessive noise activity, and increase off-highway vehicle (O.H.V.) safety and education through citizen contacts, warnings, and citations. R.O.V.E. deputies saturated the area and contacted over eighty off-road enthusiasts. During these contacts, members of the public were provided with information on required safety equipment, legal off-highway venues located throughout the county, and general off-highway vehicle information. Educational brochures were also dispersed to many of these subjects. These brochures contain information on safe riding practices and a map displaying all legal off-highway venues within our county. In addition, deputies cited seventeen offenders for the applicable off-highway vehicle enforcement section (10.12.010 R.C.O.).
