On July 3, 2019, at 11:30 am, members of the Riverside Auto-Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID) task force conducted a vehicle check at an apartment complex located at the 77000 block of County Club Dr., Palm Desert.  The passenger of the vehicle, Rene Alejos (45 yrs) was on parole and had a felony warrant.  Alejos was placed under arrest and handcuffed.  During a search of the vehicle, evidence was located related to methamphetamine sales. While processing the vehicle, Alejos fled from the scene on foot into the apartment complex while still handcuffed.  A perimeter was quickly established with the assistance of Palm Desert Station, Riverside Sheriff K-9's and Riverside Sheriff helicopter.  A short time later, Alejo was discovered hiding near an air conditioner on the side of an apartment building still handcuffed.  Alejo was taken into custody without incident and did not sustain injuries.
