On June 26, 2019, deputies assigned to Special Enforcement Team were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Encanto Drive and McCall Boulevard, in the city of Menifee. At 1:00 PM, deputies contacted the occupants of a vehicle parked at a business in the 27000 block of Encanto Drive. While speaking to the occupants, the deputy learned one of them had an outstanding warrant out of Riverside County. He was identified as Nathaniel Edward Harms, a 46-year-old resident out of Twentynine Palms.

During the investigation, the deputy located a loaded firearm, approximately 22 pounds of processed marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency inside the vehicle. Harms was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for felon in possession of a loaded firearm and transportation of marijuana.
